The nose begins with rose petals, strawberry and baking spices. On the palate, fresh raspberry and cranberry meld into flavors of black tea and deeper, woodsy-blackberry creating a complex, textural mouthfeel. Black cherry, sous bois and a hint of tobacco lead into the long mineral finish.
...a wonderful tribute to the stony plateau of Piedlong, the highest area in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Very old Gernache Noir, particularly at home on these soils, contributes 90% of the blend. The remaining 10% is Mourvédre grown in the neighboring distrect of Pignan.
