Deep, dark ruby in color, this wine presents aromas of hearty blackberry, earth, and tobacco notes. The complex yet elegant full-bodied palate consists of black plum, anise, and pomegranate, with subtle hints of toasted caramel and raw cocoa.
The signature varietal that launched the BARRA of Mendocino brand in 1997, this petite sirah features certified organic grapes that were hand picked from our 27 acre hillside vineyard, Bella Collina, located high above the Ukiah valley (925 feet elevation) in Mendocino County. Following the advice of Karl Wente and Louis Martini in the early 60’s, Charlie Barra began planting the petite sirah varietal, and we continue to bottle limited quantities of this luscious, hearty wine.

Big, rich concentrated black fruit flavors are supported by medium, yet firm tannins and framed by the mild, toasty oak. This wine will continue to develop over time and is suited to long aging.

Petite Sirah is known for its inky purple color, and this wine is no exception! Awesome dark color implies a concentrated wine, and there is no doubt this wine packs intense leather, cassis and French oak into a remarkably rich and full bodied wine.
