Avenging Angel 2012 Pinot Noir

Avenging Angel 2012 Pinot Noir

This Pinot Noir is made in memory of Edward P. Zalaznick and Christian H. Maltby. In collaboration, Brian Zalaznick from Angel Camp Vineyard and comrade Tim Mullins of Balo Vineyards share the fruit of their vineyards to honor the loss of family and friend; one ton from each is harvested and combined for a total production of 152 cases.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Shy aromas of red fruits, spice and sweet oak. A red cherry bombast that is bracing and very satisfying with a good cut of acidity, a subtle compliment of oak, and a fine-grain, velvety mouthfeel. Everything is in its place in this wine that should age nicely.

Other Notes
Balo wines are made entirely from estate grown grapes, the oldest of which were planted in 1998. Their partnership with Molly and Jason Drew includes a shared philosophy that extends into every aspect of Balo's wine growing and wine making activities. Their commitment to quality includes organic farming practices, harvesting only when true physiological ripeness is reached and a strong belief that minimal handling and intervention during and after harvest make the best wines.
