Halcón 2015 Cerise Vineyard Pinot Noir
Halcóns first and only vintage of Cerise Pinot - this Anderson Valley vineyard, which sits on a wind-blown, steep slope at 1200ft above Boonville, was sold to Kosta Browne in 2016. Just like thier other vineyards, vintage 2015 started slightly early at Cerise. Spring was cool and damp dropping the crop level below 1.5 tons per acre. Summer was moderate and without drama, leading to a leisurely September pick under optimal conditions.
Predominantly Wädenswil clone with 20% Dijon clone 115. Like the all other Halcón Pinots, we utilized 35% whole- cluster and aged in 20% new French oak. This wine shows the classic Wädenswil characteristics - a slightly lighter color but with intense earthy red fruit aromas. On the palate there is very pure, bright red fruits nicely framed by fine tannin. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
